O’cean Hill Brings Miami-Sensibilities and Abstract Swing to Christian Music with Debut Single

O’cean Hill, “Now Is The Time”

O’cean Hill

With the release of his debut single, O’cean Hill is bringing Christian music fans an infectious new sound and an entirely new genre he calls “Abstract Swing.”

— O’cean Hill

MIAMI, FL, USA, February 18, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — With the release of his debut single, “Now Is The Time,” Miami-based singer/rapper, songwriter and producer O’cean Hill is bringing Christian music fans an infectious new sound, and an entirely new genre he calls “Abstract Swing.”

"Abstract Swing is a fusion of salsa beats, African rhythms & pop melodies topped off with a hip-hop swing” says O’cean. By using his Puerto Rican roots and the Afro-Caribbean influences that he was exposed to while growing up in Puerto Rico, O’cean wants to share his testimony with people that normally wouldn’t listen to Christian music. "Through my music, I want to be able to be a vessel that connects people with their own personal walk with God.”

O’cean comes from humble beginnings. Born in New York City and raised in the Bronx (down the street from future entertainment icon Jennifer Lopez) and Puerto Rico, his love for music awakened at the early age of four while watching television appearances by legendary performers like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. The power and the presence of these legendary entertainers heavily influenced the development of his musical trajectory. At the age of 12, O’cean started writing songs and by the time he was 15, he was already producing and arranging his own music.

While most artists get their start in small bars, coffee houses or clubs, O’cean’s first professional gig was as the opening act for New Kids On The Block at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium outside Boston, Massachusetts. Before long, he was opening for major acts such as The Commodores, Will To Power and Brenda K. Starr. He also was included as a featured artist for the 2005 Latin Billboard Awards Showcase, and soon found himself hosting and producing the MTV International series Da’Klick, where he interviewed the top Latin singers and rappers.

With a decided turn towards ministry, Ocean’s new music and high-energy live performances are filled with faith, culture and diversity. “I want my music to have a happy, fun, energetic vibe to it while still sharing my experiences through personal testimonies, and positive stories of others,” says O’cean. “That’s why when you listen to my new single, 'Now Is The time,' you will realize that it’s a celebration of faith and it will inspire people to let go of their past and focus and embrace the present.”

Recorded at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios (owned by country music superstar Martina McBride), “Now Is The Time" was mixed by GRAMMY Award-winner Sean Moffitt (TobyMac, Lauren Daigle) and mastered by GRAMMY Award-winner Joe LaPorta (Lizzo, Carrie Underwood). The single is available now wherever digital music is sold.

HIP Video Promo presents: Elephant Heart premieres worldly, colorful new music video "Love Is The Weapon" on Music-News

Elephant Heart

One listen to "Love Is The Weapon," and it's clear they've put the miles, time, and music-lovers' attention into their shared passion for international travel.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, USA, February 18, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Watch "Love Is The Weapon" on Music-News

When making World Music, it helps to have traveled the world, with an ear for the hundreds and hundreds of sounds, instruments, rhythms, phrasings, and traditions making up the intricate fabric of global music. One listen to Elephant Heart's latest single, "Love Is The Weapon," and it's clear that husband and wife Jason and Victoria Evigan have put the miles, the time, and music-lovers' attention into their shared passion for international travel. The genre-bending twosome formed their world electronic collective in 2016. They began regularly releasing singles in between Jason's award-winning music production and their duties as co-founders of the international non-profit charity Picture This. Elephant Heart combines the studio prowess of Jason, who's worked with Madonna, Maroon 5, Demi Lovato, David Guetta, and Ellie Goulding, among many others, and Victoria, who serves as the group's vocalist, songwriter, lyricist, and producer. Their fanbase spans the globe as well, with tens of thousands of fans spread across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Billboard raved that Elephant Heart's last single, "Lenguas," was "here to cut through the modern noise and shake your booty to its core." Lightning has definitely struck twice, because "Love Is The Weapon" is a shot of adrenalized positivity straight to your mindstate and your moneymaker. Over a patchwork riot of percussive groove, Victoria's tuneful, warrior vocals turn the idea of love-as-a-weapon on its head, holding it high as an instrument for Good. Backed with hypnotic chants and strings, Elephant Heart's message here rings out like a thunderclap — we are unstoppable when we are united. The song organically straddles genres, layering the duo's pop sensibilities atop ancient rhythms and instruments, transporting the listener across time and space, and making sure they have a killer soundtrack to their journey.

We get an intimate view of the kind of "travel with purpose" Jason and Victoria engage in as they perform alongside the many folks they've come to call friends in the underserved neighborhoods of Paal Road in the Indian city of Jodhpur. They sing, rhyme and groove to their exhilarating dancefloor track among the sun-baked dwellings and structures, some dating back to the 15th Century. The locals, adorned in Bindis and eye-popping colors, are out in full force, know every word of the song, and are more than happy to back up the band. The "Love Is The Weapon" vid was produced by industry game-changer Pat Ridge, who's made videos for Cardi B, Travis Scott, Steve Aoki, as well as that infamously viral Sheck Wes revenge clip. Wherever their travels take them next, let's hope Elephant Heart comes back home with enough inspiration for a whole record.

HIP Video Promo presents: Project213 premieres sinister rock anthem "Naughty Jenny" music video on Vents Magazine

Project213

Project213 is a genre-mashing, frequency-blending, psychosis-inducing project created by Boise, ID musician Jared Hallock

BOISE, ID, USA, February 18, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Watch "Naughty Jenny" at Vents Magazine

Project213 is a genre-mashing, frequency-blending, psychosis-inducing project created by Jared Hallock. The name harkens back to his college days: room #213 in the music building where he and his friends would hang out all night creating chaos and sounds after the regular "day shifters" went home.

Working out of a laboratory of instruments, Project213 was started in 2005 as a project to keep that collaborative spirit alive. Initially created as a studio project, it consisted of a rotating cast of musicians. However, with their new single “Naughty Jenny,” Hallock is solidifying the project’s live line-up and writing new music!

The driving rhythms and quirky, dark undertones of Project213 blend well into Idaho's thriving indie music scene. Festivals like Treefort and strong, supportive local venues, are fueling Boise's artistic upswing. For Hallock, the heart of that scene is The Neurolux – you know, that bar with all the cool music history. The Neurolux, then, makes for the perfect setting for Project213’s video “Naughty Jenny.” The venue’s crown, seen lit up in the background of the video, is iconic imagery to the Pacific Northwest music scene.

Aside from Project213, Hallock works as a composer, writing music for dance, film, and web series. Among his recent projects, Hallock composed the score for the comedy web series Vagina Town. "Naughty Jenny" was named after the show's lead character Jenny, and an early version of "Naughty Jenny" was featured in episode 4. In the song, Jenny is the object of affection, and the title of the song suggests that she has a certain reputation. Could Naughty Jenny be all she is rumored to be?

HIP Video Promo presents: Evan Michael Green premieres dashing, infectious "No Ceiling" music video on Popdust

Evan Michael Green – No Ceiling

Evan Michael Green

"No Ceiling" is an exhilarating leap into the stratosphere from a musician well acquainted with dizzy emotional heights.

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, February 18, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Watch the "No Ceiling" music video on Popdust

To a real R&B artist, a roof is always an enemy – an obstacle to overcome. Sly and the Family Stone wanted to take you higher, and higher, and blow straight through it. Lionel Richie led that dance on the ceiling in order to transcend it. The Rock Master Three just wanted to watch that M.F. burn. Evan Michael Green, too, respects no vertical limitations. The exuberant singer-songwriter is determined to bring you skyward. "No Ceiling," his newest single, is an exhilarating leap into the stratosphere from a musician well acquainted with dizzy emotional heights.

He can get down, too. No matter how ambitious his songwriting gets – and Evan Michael Green is no stranger to ambition – he always makes sure his funk is in place. That impeccable balance between the ethereal and the earthy, the sensual and the celestial, the super-cool and the sensationally steamy, marks Green as an artist of uncommon depth. He's demonstrated that poise on a run of remarkable singles that has culminated in "No Ceiling," the fullest realization of his style. In it, a taut, slinky chorus blossoms into a brilliant, captivating chorus. The song takes a few brave, unexpected turns, but Green is a sure-handed and generous guide.

"No Ceiling" comes on the heels of the Growing Pains EP, an autobiographical set that foregrounded the artist's struggle for self-determination. The project also exhibited his range, incorporating elements from classic soul, moody modern hip-hop, scratchy party-starting funk-rock, sultry Caribbean music, and even a little smooth jazz. "New Identity," the single from the set, earned Green airplay on MTV and Ebro In The Morning and won him opening slots for 21 Savage, 2 Chainz, and Young Thug.

Evan Michael Green cuts a dashing figure onscreen, and so compelling is his stage show that he could surely hold his audience's attention with simple performance clips. But he's a born storyteller, too – and the "No Ceiling" video covers a startling amount of narrative territory in just under four minutes. Green leads the viewer on a trip through time: we see a romance from its origins until the present day. But the pivotal scene takes place at a party in the mid-1980s, and the star sets the scene with the sort of attention to detail and style that characterizes his work.

Bass Legend Tony Newton Releases Timely New Single “Stop That Sh*t”

Tony Newton - Stop That Sh*t

Tony Newton – Stop That Sh*t

Tony Newton - Stop That Sh*t

Tony Newton – Stop That Sh*t

ASHEVILLE, NC, USA, February 17, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Bass legend Tony Newton is releasing a timely new single “Stop That Sh*t” from his newly released acclaimed new album “White Light Collection.” Says Brett David Stewart of JukeboxPodcast, “Lyrically, the single takes aim at those who only want to benefit themselves, often at the cost of those around them and future generations. 'Stop That Sh*t,' Newton croons funkily as he points the finger at a 'bad cancer' of society – those with endless greed.”

Not too long ago, the world of music found a revelation in Tony Newton, a virtuoso hailing from the historic city of Detroit, Michigan. Tony took keen interest in the art of music right from the days of his childhood. At the tender age of 7 years, his passion for music drew him closer to the piano. Although Tony is highly adept in playing keyboards, there is no denying the fact that he has carved out quite a history for himself in the field of electric bass.

Newton officially launched his bass guitar career along with the likes of esteemed blues musicians, such as John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker and Little Walter then moving on quickly to Motown. Tony has sealed a permanent berth for himself in the souls and minds of music lovers not only across the USA but also in different parts of the world by recording on over 100 hit recordings with innumerable world-renowned artists, including The Funk Bros., Tony Williams Lifetime, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Supremes, Allan Holdsworth, Gary Moore's G-Force, Robbie Krieger of the Doors, Aretha Franklin, Mamas & Papas, Chuck Berry,& Little Richard, to name a few.

TONY STILL HERE. Scores of musicians, producers and one hit wonders have hit the dust. Tony's music has evolved from the turbulent and riotous sixties and seventies to the current plethora of crises of the 21st century. This legendary talent and rare phenom rose with white lightning speed to the top of American music artistry, to become an iconic trendsetter and innovator. What's different and unique about TN that distinguishes him from other music artists.

His fans say this:
“He is a powerful musical history coupled with current innovative sound”
“He’s not trying to fit into slots”
“He is a trendsetting, artist who forges his own way”
“His great song writing and arrangements!”
“A fresh new music, doesn't sound like anybody else, is original, Groove, depth of music, honesty, very uplifting”
“He is multifaceted, not only musically but personally and professionally in all that he does”
“Tony sees the bigger picture and beyond and succeeds in bringing it all together for the betterment of humanity”

Says Newton, “My music tells life stories – Within my music there is a unique and special story for each listener as well as a journey for both you and I. If I can write and perform music which helps you get through a bad time, good time, inspires, or gets you thinking, then I have fulfilled my mission”

“Newton's Motown roots are immediately apparent on 'Stop That Sh*t,' a lengthy nine minute excursion through his thunderous style of bass performance. It has a slick, cinematic style to it that's scored with searing electric guitar, bass, and keys solos, cataclysmic string sections, and waterfalls of bombastic percussion and backing vocals. Much like Motown, it's sharply produced and immensely suave, but never sterile or inauthentic.” – Brett David Stewart (BrettDavidStewart.com) – JukeboxPodcast

“Antonio (Tony) Newton, super genius, will go down in history as one of the most vital path forgers of our era” – Randali, Music Critic – Mean Streets Magazine.

WHAT TONY NEWTON IS DOING NOW!

Along with promoting his new album and single, currently Tony is writing and producing theme song for DNA National Homeless Soulutions! He is also preparing for “RARE” concert series in colleges and theaters across the US in addition to “Personal Enrichment, Technology and Music” speaking events, produced by Seaside Music Management.

New Children's Album Release: “OOH LA LA TOO DOO NA NA OOP BOP OOP BOP RIBBIT”

Ooh La La Too Doo Na Na Oop Bop Oop Bop Ribbit Album Cover

New Children’s Album by Kelli Welli – Ooh La La Too Doo Na Na Oop Bop Oop Bop Ribbit

New Children’s album from Portland, OR-based kindie musician Kelli Welli: 16 songs available now

PORTLAND, OREGON, UNITED STATES, February 17, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Newly released album “OOH LA LA TOO DOO NA NA OOP BOP OOP BOP RIBBIT” is a compilation of favorite Kelli Welli sing-a-long and storytelling songs, along with some new tunes, and the lullabies she wrote during her first year as a new mom to boy/girl twins. Her original songs, often inspired by the kids and animals in her life, weave unique, sometimes silly tales, celebrate love, sunshine, nature, different languages, and honor the details that come with raising the amazing little people in our lives.

This album opens with “Turtlurtlurtle,” a song inspired by the wacky nickname given to a little friend by her grandparents, which was named the 2019 Winner of the West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest. “La Lullaby,” which includes a verse in French and is one of five lullabies on the album, also received Honorable Mention in the 2019 WCS contest. The album includes one cover, a Norman Blake style version of “You Are My Sunshine,” with an original Kelli Welli verse.

The album was produced by masterful musician Timothy James Uecker and excellent recording engineer Gabe Johnston at Falcon Recording Studio in Portland. It features children’s voices and musical talents of some parents whose kids a few songs were written for.

Listen to the album now on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/kelli-welli/sets/ooh-la-la-too-doo

Kelli Welli bio info: Kelli Caldwell is an active songwriter in both the Children’s and Singer-Songwriter/Americana “grown-up” music arenas, mainly performing for kids as Kelli Welli. She’s released several children’s EPs and singles over recent years and though she’s new to the thriving Portland kindie scene, was just named TOP 5 Parent Picks for 2020 by PDX Parent Magazine.

Drawing on her unique upbringing (more below), Kelli’s wide-ranging songwriting for children is smart, fun, often hilarious, sometimes reflective and deeply sweet. Always genuine. Kelli’s been called, “hysterical and superbly talented” by fellow artists and parents often say, “This is music I can actually listen to over and over… and over… and still enjoy!” And a local fan mom recently wrote to say, "I've cried twice now when listening to 'I'm in Love with You.' Such lovely songs!"

“I write songs for kids and the people who love them,” Kelli likes to say. “As a parent of young children myself, I know what it’s like to listen to the same music on repeat. So I appreciate songs that are smart, have depth, make me and my kids laugh, give teaching tools, just make us laugh together, or include elements that make me feel connected to other parents going through similar stages, worries, joys, and priceless moments. So it’s unbelievably fulfilling to get that kind of feedback about my songs from parents, as well as their fun kiddos.”

Kelli has always danced to her own beat. She is the daughter of two fine artists, an award-winning wearable artist and illustrator, and a successful oil painter and conga drummer who currently produces community concerts. As a child, Kelli did a stint as a French clown named Rosebud; started kindergarten from a tent; lived in an octagon-shaped house on stilts with her one-eyed cat named Mighty Mouse; had a best friend named Summer Wind O'Redwoods; and had 50+ hamsters at one point. She has raised angel fish from eggs and kittens with a bottle, plays ice and roller hockey, and has a fairly green thumb.

Kelli has a Master of Publishing degree and a B.A. in Speech Comm with minors in Japanese and German. After working in PR for Harper's Magazine in NYC, she returned to Portland and started a corporate publishing business before focusing more full time on motherhood and music. Kelli has studied speech-level singing with The Voice Project and spent 8+ years as a key member of the Portland Songwriters Association board, is a member of West Coast Songwriters, Nashville Songwriters Association, Children’s Music Network, and SCBWI.

U.P. Summer Theater Institute: For oung stars of Lighting/audio/sound design, set design, costume, stage management

Announcing an immersive, three-week program for 8-12th graders that mirrors the professional rehearsal and performance process of top industry professionals.

Our inaugural summer season will run July 5th-26th, 2020, and will take place on the picturesque campus of Michigan Tech University in Houghton, MI.”

— Erin Thompson – Founder and Producing Artistic Director

HOUGHTON, MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES, February 17, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The U.P. Summer Theater Institute has created an immersive, three-week program for 8-12th graders that mirrors the professional rehearsal and performance process that top industry professionals are accustomed to when hired at professional Equity (union) theaters around the country.

OUR TECH/DESIGN PROGRAM
We get it, not everyone who loves theater wants to perform. If you care more about how they lit that sunset on the scrim in the third scene, mixing the sound cue while two leads are singing into one another’s faces, or how they built the costume plot…WELCOME friends. We have a program for you.

Technical/Design students will hone their skills in lighting, audio/sound design, set design/construction, costume design/construction, stage management, and more! Our tech/design students will have the opportunity to learn through collaboration and mentorship, working directly with our brilliant Design team, Creative team, and Faculty to build the show that our public audiences will see. They get hands-on experience with state of the art equipment at the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts (seen in photo).

The best part is, the show you see in the final weekend will be run in part by our tech/design students, teaming up with the professionals to experience what it feels like to tech a live show in real time.

Scholarships available
We are DELIGHTED to offer three types of tuition scholarships for our 2020 summer season:
– The Lake Superior Scholarship (Local students).
– The Triple Threat Scholarship (Performer talent/merit-based).
– The Spotlight Scholarship (Tech and Design talent/merit-based).

U.P. Summer Theater Institute: for the next generation of theater makers, movers, and shakers

THE ONSTAGE TRACK:
Emphasis on Performing

This isn’t your average high school musical, theater camp, or children’s theater. The U.P. Summer Theater Institute has created a program that mirrors the professional rehearsal and performance process that industry professionals are accustomed to when hired to put up a show at an Equity theater.

Rather than taking theoretical singing, dancing, and acting classes (which are all very important!), we offer our performers the unique chance to immerse themselves in the ensemble-building process of mounting a full-scale, full-length musical over a three week period, just like the pros.

This means they rehearse for two weeks, learning the music, staging, and the choreography of a full-length Broadway musical. In the third week, they move from the rehearsal room to the stage, where they collaborate with the Design/Tech students and faculty to integrate the technical elements of the show: the set, lights, sound, costumes, hair, make-up, and orchestra, etc.

This is unique for the ages that we work with. Most of them won’t get the opportunity to perform beyond school environments and in professional level theater until after college. We know from experience that the best way to level up and grow as a theater artist is to hone your skills and technique, and then to put all of that hard work, talent, and technique to the test in a fully produced show.

Our cast of young performers are led by a professional Creative Team (Director, Choreographer, Music Director, etc.) with Broadway credits, and a breadth of professional experience both onstage and “behind the table”. Our creative team continues to work in the field, so along with some things they learned along the way, they bring great empathy for what it feels like to perform and the challenges that come with doing so.

The immersive 3-week program at UP Summer Theater will culminate in performances the final weekend for a paying public audience of friends, family, and the community.
