Tinnitus Prevention: 3 Essential Precautions from Dr. Julie at Sound Relief Hearing Center

Dr. Julie Prutsman is the owner and founder of Sound Relief Hearing Center.

Dr. Julie Prutsman, Au.D.

Dr. Julie Prutsman offers 3 essential precautions to protect yourself and others from tinnitus and/or hearing loss.

DENVER, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, June 30, 2021 / — Folks that work in the emergency room are very aware of the dangerous potential of fireworks as a major cause of painful injuries to the hands, arms, and face. Most people don’t consider that these explosions can cause permanent damage to your auditory system resulting in tinnitus or hearing loss.

Whether you are attending a professional fireworks show, or have purchased your own, Dr. Julie Prutsman of Sound Relief Hearing Center warns, “People don’t realize that fireworks – at close range – can reach loudness levels between 150 and 175 decibels, which far exceeds what is safe for your ears. Sounds above 85 dB can be damaging to your hearing.”

“A lot of the excitement with fireworks,” Dr. Prutsman explains, “comes down to the loudness of the explosions. These explosions can wreak havoc on the inner ear by damaging the tiny hair cells that conduct sound waves.”
Fireworks on the Fourth of July are an American tradition, and avoiding them completely is almost impossible, if not somewhat un-American.
Dr. Prutsman offers 3 essential precautions to protect yourself and others from tinnitus:

1. Be VERY careful with children.

Hearing protection is vital. With smaller ear canals, the sound pressure entering the ear is greater. This means that normal sounds to an adult can be up to 20 decibels louder for an infant. “I strongly recommend carrying your baby in a carrier and using pediatric-size earmuffs to block the sound of the fireworks for infants and young children,” says Dr. Prutsman.

2. Keep a safe distance

By maintaining a safe distance, the less harmful the sound is to your ears. Dr. Prutsman explains, “Your distance from the sound of the fireworks can make all of the difference in terms of decibel level and hearing safety. Around 500 feet will still give you a great view, without the sound pressure that can cause damage and cause tinnitus.”

3. Bring – and WEAR – hearing protection!

If you just can’t seem to pull yourself away from the action, please protect your hearing wisely with custom-made hearing protection. “The best way to know you have the proper hearing protection for something like fireworks is to talk to an audiologist and discuss custom earplugs. There are inexpensive, custom options that fit and feel great and can be used for multiple purposes such as fireworks, concerts, and loud sporting events. These ensure that the fit and seal protect against the harmful intensity levels without leaving anything to chance,” explains Dr. Prutsman. “Foam earplugs will suffice in a bind, but the key is to make sure they are completely sealed into your ear by rolling them down to their smallest size before inserting them into your ear canal. In some instances of louder exposure, double hearing protection (i.e., earplugs and earmuffs) may be warranted, such as with shotgun shooting or target practice.

You can still enjoy your Fourth of July while staying safe. If you happen to read this after July 4th and think you have tinnitus, you should contact one of the offices at Sound Relief Hearing Center. They can determine the extent of the damage as well as what exactly can be done to remedy your situation.

Your Heart Will Be Entangled By Shihori’s Latest Music Video “Invisible”

Melodic Arts Inc.

A fascinating glimpse into the mind of one of Japan’s boldest musicians

This song describes the tough trials that lovers go through. It almost always seems to end sadly…”

— Shihori

NEW YORK, NY, USA, June 30, 2021 / — New York-based, singer and songwriter Shihori has released a new MV ‘Invisible‘ the previous single from her upcoming album that will be released this late August.

With dozens of hit songs and countless moments of brilliance, Shihori has been winning fans at home and abroad for years. However, her new video is unlike anything she has released to date. With its startling imagery and captivating choreography, it begins to reveal the true depth of Shihori’s artistry.

“This song describes the tough trials that lovers go through,” Shihori says. “It almost always seems to end sadly…”

Romantic angst is a key theme in ‘Invisible.’ Over a moody piano melody, Shihori paints an evocative portrait of a relationship almost at its breaking point. Additionally, ‘Invisible’ represents Shihori’s first foray into contemporary dance. Alongside a renowned dancer from ‘The Greatest Showman’, Yusaku Komori, she rises to the challenge with admirable conviction. She moves with an intensity that can only come from lived experiences, using the motion of her body to express herself without restraint. Clearly, this is a distinctive piece of art that will speak directly to anyone experiencing heartbreak. ‘Invisible’ is devastating, thought-provoking, and utterly unforgettable.

Shihori’s music champions a message of love and life empowerment. Her inspiring story begins in childhood. She felt as though she was a loner, and she was trapped in a world shaped by total deafness in one ear along with having Asperger’s Syndrome. Conditions that combined to make social connection extremely difficult. She was alone and she didn’t know how not to be. She found a sense of community and the ability to “belong” through music. She hopes that she can become a role model for young Asian women in America by sharing her story and music.

Shihori is a visionary New York-based singer and songwriter who has enjoyed over a decade of success in the Japanese pop industry and beyond. Her work encompasses original songs as well as compositions for internationally acclaimed anime tv shows and computer games. She boasts 11 gold-certified singles and albums that total over a million sales.

‘Invisible’ MV is available on YouTube now!

Top 5 UK iTunes Singer Songwriter Sarantos Releases New Single "EyeBANGing" On July 1st

“EyeBANGing” Drops On July 1st

"EyeBANGing" is a pop dance offering that follows the international iTunes hit "I Never Catch The Train"

The message is to be respectful, courteous and tactful”

— Sarantos

CHICAGO, IL, USA, June 30, 2021 / — After the success of his single, "I Never Catch The Train," Sarantos follows up with his witty, satirical single, "EyeBANGing." This uptempo track builds tension with the listener as it introduces the theme of a leering individual and the reactions which follow. As the main melodies are introduced, Sarantos showcases his dynamic instrumentation with his synth usage, effect choices spanning across the stereo field, and syncopated drum rhythms. Presented in a flippant manner, the subject is able to encapsulate the friction ogling at others causes, even when it is meant in a harmless manner.

When asked to comment on this theme, Sarantos mused, “Beauty is often in the eye of the beholder but when beauty takes your breath away, we might not notice our mouths gaping open and our eyes bulging. The message is to be respectful, courteous and tactful. This song pushes the envelope both lyrically and harmonically.”

An unfortunate sufferer of the COVID-19 virus, Sarantos has reflected on this life-changing event with his track, "COVID Survivor," a somber contemplation of the pandemic. With the release of "EyeBANGing" on July 1st, we see the liberated Sarantos, living for the moment in a blissful, uplifting track aimed at getting the party started back up.

Sarantos is building on his following, as he currently is an international award-winning solo music artist, Top 5 iTunes UK Charting singer-songwriter, #1 iTunes South Africa Charting Folk artist, proud nerd, multi-instrumentalist, book author, comic book nut, radio show host, poet, and part-time spy. With close to one million social media followers and plays across Spotify and YouTube, 2021 is the year Sarantos builds on his repertoire. "EyeBANGing" joins his releases of 14 albums with 178 original tracks, as well as 7 fiction/fantasy books that parallel the songs. Sarantos has also had numerous media placements for his songs, instrumentals & cues.

Please join Sarantos on July 1st with the release of EyeBANGing, and keep following for the up-coming video.

Taylor Rae’s Cinematic Debut Video, Fixer Upper, Is A Landscape Of Beauty

Taylor Rae (Courtesy of Charlotte Avenue Pictures)

Taylor Rae (photo by Jeremy Ryan)

Beautifully dark video shot on 1800s homestead outside of Nashville

The Nunnelly house (circa 1823) is an embodiment of all the emotions ‘Fixer Upper’ portrays – it's melancholy, nostalgic, haunting and beautifully dark. It was the perfect location.”

— Taylor Rae

NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, June 30, 2021 / — Rack and ruin and timeless memories are swept up in “Fixer Upper’s” sweet melody, and Taylor’s bell-like voice shines a light on the dark and dusty corners of heartbreak, hope and regret in this moving video. The use of color washing and tonal synchronicity make for a purity of direction that is gentle yet relentless. The visually captivating piece was produced and directed by Michelle Robertson and William Gawley for Charlotte Avenue Pictures, while Stephen Shiveley handled cinematography and editing. Filming was done in Centerville, Tennessee at the historic Nunnelly Farm (1823) and the Hickman County courthouse on the square.

For Taylor, “The Nunnelly house is an embodiment of all the emotions ‘Fixer Upper’ portrays – it's melancholy, nostalgic, haunting and beautifully dark. It was the perfect location.” Producer Robertson adds, “The farmstead was a wonderful metaphor for the beautiful but failed relationship described in this song. Every room, every inch of this amazing house tells a story. Some lovely and some tragic.” The contrast offered by the renovation-in-progress of the courthouse – with its newly-smooth plaster and updated lighting – tracks with the song’s lyrical progression.

Taylor Rae’s cinematic debut music video, “Fixer Upper,” has now launched on three diverse outlets: IndiMusic TV, Guitar Girl Magazine and Making A Scene Magazine.

Reviewers are comparing Taylor to Norah Jones (Melissa Neubert, Think Country UK), Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt (Mat Weir,, and early Kacey Musgraves (Duncan Warwick, CMP Magazine), and are declaring the single’s “rolling folk energy (as) reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac” (Greg Jones, Ear To The Ground) and an “instant hit” (Matthew Swinnerton, Event Santa Cruz). Blues Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Messano describes the video as “mesmerizing in an ‘Americana meets Sade’ landscape of beauty.”

“Fixer Upper” is available for purchase now and is accessible to radio programmers via AirplayDirect. The track is the first single from Taylor’s upcoming full-length CD, due out this fall.

Stay connected with Taylor via

Originally from Santa Cruz, California where she won the region’s NEXTies Musician of the Year award, Taylor currently resides in Austin, Texas. The singer/songwriter’s eclectic style traverses Folk, R&B, Jazz and Blues. Influenced by diverse artists including Grace Potter, Janis Joplin, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Jewel, Simon & Garfunkel and Steely Dan, Taylor has created a compelling stylistic performance style that is distinctly her own. “I call it ‘Soul & Roll’ – a blend of all the roots genres that come from the earliest days of American music,” she says. Taylor gave indications she was destined for a music career when she was just two years old and sang her first song – not a nursery rhyme, but Carole King’s “It’s Too Late.” She began performing regularly as a teenager and in pre-pandemic times averaged 200 gigs annually, including the second stage at the legendary Stubb’s in Austin, Hotel Café in Hollywood and Santa Cruz’s Moe’s Alley, Kuumbwa Jazz and the Catalyst. She has also played several popular Northern California festivals and opened for artists including Brandy Clark, Kristian Bush, Reggae musician Mike Love and The Stone Foxes. Now 27, she enjoys reading, practicing yoga and spending time with her long-haired dachshund, Winnie.
