Country artist Chris Turner has released his latest single, "All in the Same Boat" (WalkerDawg Entertainment) — available today wherever digital music is sold.

PTSD and moral injury have become my platform because I can relate. Had it not been for music and the power of song to help me through… I’m not sure how my life would have turned out.”

— Chris Turner

NASHVILLE, TN, USA, October 30, 2020 / — Country artist Chris Turner has released his latest single, "All in the Same Boat" (WalkerDawg Entertainment) — available today at Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and other major outlets. The single is the first release from his upcoming EP, due in early 2021.

“I’m so proud of this track,” says Turner. "With Covid, job losses, and all of the issues facing our country, this song has a message that everyone, myself included, can relate to and it needs to be heard right now. 'Ain’t we all in the same boat!' The question is, do we sink or do we swim?”

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Turner uses his platform to help raise awareness and be a voice for his fellow veteran community. In 2019, Turner joined forces with actor and UFC legend, Randy Couture, in the fight against PTSD. His tireless efforts to bring awareness has led to media coverage by major outlets such as Forbes Magazine and Today in Nashville, and he has partnered with a variety of non-profits including Xtreme Couture, GI Foundation, Crosswinds Foundation, Together for The Good, 911 Remembered and Irreverant Warriors.

"Being a USMC veteran, it’s no secret I have a passion for my brothers and sisters in arms,” says Turner. "PTSD and moral injury have become my platform because I can relate. Had it not been for music and the power of song to help me through some of my darkest times, I’m not sure how my life would have turned out. Will we ever Stop 22? We all would like to think so for sure. However my goal is to Stop 1! If I’m able to touch someone through song and be that voice that stops them from making that life altering decision, then I’ve given back what was given to me… LIFE!”

Hailing from Ninety Six, SC, Turner made his way to Nashville in 2010, determined to break out as a singer/songwriter. He started playing small restaurants and coffee shops for tips, before graduating to some of Music City’s most prestigious stages, such as the famed Bluebird Cafe, John Rich’s Redneck Riviera, Tootsies, The Nashville Palace and more. His increased exposure provided the opportunity to share the stage with some of the biggest names in Country Music, including Cody Johnson, Aaron Tippin, Darryl Worley, Craig Campbell, Trent Tomlinson, Bucky Covington, and Tracy Lawrence, to name a few.

Turner's upcoming EP is the follow-up to his 2019 release, American Made, which reached #16 on the iTunes Country Chart, and featured the single, "If You Drink,” which spawned a viral music video featuring Randy Couture and actress Mindy Robinson.

New Music: Veteran Entertainer Margie Singleton Returns To Airwaves With New Single & EP, “Never Mind”

Never Mind CD cover

Margie Singleton (Credit: Sandy Kay)

At 85, Gifted Singer/Songwriter Margie Singleton Is Still Doing What She Loves

Three of the songs are brand new. It’s awesome to look back at all the music I’ve been a part of, but it’s also a great feeling to look ahead.”

— Margie Singleton

PLEASANT VIEW, TN, UNITED STATES, October 30, 2020 / — Making music is nearly all Margie Singleton has ever known. She began playing guitar, writing songs and singing as a Louisiana teenager, and became a regular on the famed Louisiana Hayride broadcasts in 1957. Now, the veteran entertainer and proven hit songwriter returns to the airwaves with a new single, “Never Mind.” The release enjoyed a global premiere yesterday on Americana Highways; it is the title track for Singleton’s new five-song EP, produced by Stephen Shelby Singleton and Derrick Dexter Mathis. Fans can purchase the single for digital download HERE, and the EP HERE. On November 20, the physical disc will be available via her website.

“Never Mind” is the steel-guitar laced, unapologetic tale of Singleton’s life. It’s a touch irreverent, with a heap of soul and a pinch of mischief on top.

I was born in Coushatta Louisiana in 19 Never Mind
With a song in my heart, rhythm in my soul
My sweet mama and daddy didn’t seem to understand
The day I left in that van with the band
Going on the road
Headin’ down the highway
Had to do it my way
That’s the way it was
Lookin’ for adventure
Livin’ my dream
Singing’ the songs I wrote (M. Singleton, S.S. Singleton)

The single, which reflects Margie’s irrepressible spirit, kicks off the collection. NEVER MIND is a diverse offering which showcases both Margie’s songwriting skills (she wrote four of the five songs) and her still-amazing vocal skills. From the challenging, electrified Bluegrass-y twang of “Who’s Gonna Love You” to the broken-hearted breakdown found on “Wonder What She’s Doing,” Singleton strikes all the right notes. The abject sorrow of “Missing You,” exquisitely written by her son Stephen, shows talent definitely runs in this family.

The EP offers something for everyone, and Singleton admits that each song is vastly different. “It just turned out that way,” Margie reflects. “But three of these songs are brand new, and the song goes where it will.” One title she was excited to include, “Lie To Me,” is a tune she and Brook Benton wrote. “He took it to the Billboard Top 20 in 1962,” she recalls. “Folks always asked why I never recorded it and the time was just never right. I think it is now.”

For Margie, time is a familiar concept – but one that doesn’t worry her. At 85, she is still doing what she loves. “It’s awesome to look back at all the music I’ve been a part of, but it’s also a great feeling to look ahead,” she says.

Track listing:
1. Never Mind (M. Singleton, S.S. Singleton)
2. Who’s Gonna Love You (Too Late For Sorry) (M. Singleton, S.S. Singleton)
3. Wonder What She’s Doing (M. Singleton, S.S. Singleton)
4. Missing You (S.S. Singleton)
5. Lie To Me (M. Singleton, Brook Benton)

HIP Video Promo presents: Kevin Phillips remains faithful on dark days in music clip "Order My Steps" on Music News

Kevin Phillips

After many months of political and social turmoil, we needed an uplifting track to remind us to keep looking forward.

BALTIMORE, MD, USA, October 30, 2020 / — Watch "Order My Steps" feat. Donnie Breeze by Kevin Phillips on Music News

These days, it’s easy to lose sight of the better things in life. Who do we turn to when each day brings new negative adversities? We must not forget about the Man upstairs and what he has in store for the future, and Kevin Phillips makes sure we don’t neglect His name. The Maryland faith-based artist has been inspired by the church pews since his childhood. His group, Trilogy, was formed when he was a teenager with his two friends. The trio picked up traction in the area and ultimately made their way to signing record deals in New York City. Now, as a solo artist, Phillips has found fulfillment in the subject of the Lord because of his infectious energy – so lyric matter is never hard to come by! His record label, Phillips Music Group, or “PMG,” also stands for “Praise Mighty God,” where he commends new talent and acknowledges the musical path set for him.

A pastor’s powerful voice narrates the introduction of the “Order My Steps” music video and hauntingly echoes as the police invade. There’s a clear distinction between the “before and after” of having God in your life. The “before” is filled with chaos, uncertainty, and problematic choices. The “after” consists of sunny days, self-assurance, and a consistently optimistic perspective. It’s easy to get rerouted when hanging around the wrong people and making bad decisions, yet letting your guard down with Him is all you need to become better. You don’t need to be at the altar to feel connected to God; he is everywhere we look, like the sunset and the ocean. After many months of political and social turmoil, we needed an uplifting track to remind us to keep looking forward.

The synergy between Kevin Phillips and Donnie Breeze is so evident, you would think they’ve had a musical kinship already established. Donnie Breeze, a recording artist from Maryland, met Phillips at the hospital where they both work. After a few exchanges and one jam session, they laid a verse, and it went up from there. When you come together for a common revelry like God, bonds like that come naturally.

HIP Video Promo presents: Greg Hoy gets a pep talk from Ice-T in new music video "Can You Take It?” on Music News

Greg Hoy

Greg Hoy – Can You Take It?

Think of “Can You Take It?” as a strong shot of espresso, made to order by a generous, personable host who never slows down – or backs down.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA, October 30, 2020 / — Watch "Can You Take It?” by Greg Hoy on Music News

2020 has been an endurance test. We’ve all seen so many challenges, it’s a miracle we’re still upright. Somehow, even as the planet burns around us, we keep on answering the bell. Every morning, the world asks: can you take it? When it does, it helps to have a little backup. Greg Hoy, whose latest pop-rock single is a delightful blurt of insolence, has always been able to rely on the encouragement of his talented friends. In the music video for “Can You Take It?” Hoy gets a pep talk via teleconference from Ice-T. The legendary rapper, hard rocker, and actor does downplay the challenges we’re facing, but he lets Greg Hoy know that he has what it takes to make it through the day.

Ice-T kicks off the “Can You Take It?” clip with words of affirmation; Hoy’s fiery music handles the rest. The San Francisco rocker has built a reputation for inexhaustible energy, singalong choruses, and thrown-elbow verses, caustic Costello-style wit, and sharp, gleaming hooks, but we don’t think he’s ever been quite as frantic, or immediate, or catchy, as he is here. In the liner notes for Cacophony, Hoy’s recently-released EP, the songwriter credits himself with “vox, guitars, keys, and coffee,” and you can practically smell the pot brewing as he charges through these verses. Think of “Can You Take It?” as a strong shot of espresso, made to order by a generous, personable host who never slows down – or backs down.

“Can You Take It?” comes on the heels of “Messed Up World” (also from Cacophony), another single that foregrounds urgency, immediacy, tunefulness, and attitude. The video for “Messed Up World” was a pointed one: it interrogated our reliance on technology and asked whether we were digital captives to social networks. With its pop-up screens and playfully outdated hardware, the video felt suited to days spent indoors. “Can You Take It?” amplifies that energy and raises the stakes. The camera first finds Greg Hoy in a bedroom that’s too small for him, slumped on the mattress, weighted down by the pressures of modern living. But once he’s up – and he’s up in a flash – he’s practically throwing himself against the frames. Before long, everything is in motion, especially the singer. Just like the rest of us, he’s been floored by the year as it’s been. But he knows he can take it – and he knows you can, too.

HIP Video Promo presents: Jae Mansa and RiFF RaFF flex their ice in new color-pop music video "SWAN iN MY POND"

Jae Mansa and RiFF RaFF

Jae Mansa and RiFF RaFF – SWAN iN MY POND

Feel free to join them, leave your worries and modesty behind and take a dip into this acid color wash new clip

CHARLOTTE, NC, USA, October 30, 2020 / — Rap duos' synergy is unmatched – collaboration requires stylistic similarities, quick-witted thinking, and an overall combined effort. That checklist is all fulfilled by cousin two-person team, Jae Mansa. They surpass mainstream trends while staying true to the genre's original spirit. Growing up together, they remain inspired by yesterday's legends like J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and The Wu-Tang Clan. The North Carolina natives had many vital yearly milestones; 2016 was their formation, 2018 was the year they signed an equity distribution deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation, 2019 was filled with millions of streams and national placements on BET Jams, and 2020 is spearheaded by their collaboration with RiFF RaFF.

RiFF RaFF is a household name and rapper associated with just about every other acclaimed artist. Now, as the owner of the label and production company Neon Nation Corporation, RiFF RaFF hopes to build an entertainment empire. He boasts one million monthly listeners on Spotify and released his studio album Vanilla Gorilla earlier this year.

Usually, swans represent soul mates for life; they're the picturesque animal to convey infinite affection. Despite that, we don't need any of that lovey-dovey sappiness here. Jae Mansa and RiFF RaFF suitably redefine the meaning of swan to whatever the hell they want it to be in the new music video "SWAN iN MY POND." Figuratively, they do whatever they want with their money and their time because they have plenty of it. Literally, they have swans chilling in the pool. The crew posts up in a color pop mansion with some out-of-the-ordinary hues, like pink colored pools and garages. It doesn't matter what neon shade flashes as long as their ice glimmers and their cups are full. This popsicle inspired daydream mentions RiFF RaFF's favorite items and brands like Buicks, Rolex, and orange soda, and the list can keep on going because the money just keeps on coming. Feel free to join them, leave your worries and modesty behind and take a dip into this acid color wash new clip.

With over a billion streams across all platforms, Fair Play welcomes the African Giant, Nigerian superstar Burna Boy into its fold.

Since the release of his first single “Freedom Freestyle” in 2010, Burna Boy has always interwoven social themes into his music, addressing injustices of the past and present, speaking out against corruption and miseducation. Whether on stage, campaigning to #EndSARS through his Project Protect or speaking out about injustice, Burna Boy brings attention to the fact that many of Africa's problems are intrinsically linked to corruption, corruption largely inherited from recent colonial history, corruption in the form of influence of local and international business interests, and the effects of poverty, exacerbating small scale corruption.

Born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, Burna Boy’s family has a long history of social engagement. Burna's grandfather Benson Idonije was a renowned Nigerian music critic and manager of music legend, Fela Kuti. Kuti, throughout his professional career, faced persecution for his critique against the Nigerian government and Burna, growing up, was familiarised early on with the challenges faced in his country and the continent.

On his Fair Play appointment, Burna Boy said “We as musicians have the power to speak directly to our fans through our music, to let them know what is really going on and inspire them to change their situation. It is both a responsibility and an honour to speak on behalf of those who are not heard in the mainstream media, and being a Fair Play Ambassador, I join a movement that works to do the same”.

Blasko Smilevski, Executive Director of JM International, says having an artist of Burna Boy’s calibre joining the movement marks a new era for Fair Play, “Mr Ogulu’s remarkable work as an artist and activist – from challenging destructive power structures in his home country to shining a light on the struggle for equality the world over – makes him the ideal combination of what we are looking for in a Fair Play Ambassador”.

Roberto Perez Rocha, Director of Transparency International’s International Anti-Corruption Conference conveyed his fervent belief that Burna Boy will inspire even more young artists to use their voices and join the ever-growing network of social justice artivists fighting corruption around the world, “Fair Play works to empower young musicians as voices for their communities, music gives them a unique platform and we are working to make that platform even bigger! Having Burna Boy on our team does just that”.

Fair Play started in 2010 and calls on young musicians to submit music videos that take on issues around corruption and social justice. The best entries are selected to participate and perform at the International Anti-corruption Conference or IACC (the world's largest anti-corruption event), which includes the Fair Play Bootcamp, where they receive training on how to amplify their messages, whilst practicing their art and activism in a safe and sustainable way. Fair Play additionally organises local artist-driven events around the world, where issues around corruption are directly addressed by those facing them. The powerful messages of these songs are shaping the world and letting the corrupt know that their days are numbered!

Fair Play is based on the belief that only together, as a global community, can that we stamp out corruption. With Burna Boy, the Fair Play Ambassadors and Winners at our side, bringing people together, enlightening and giving hope, we are certain that this generation is going to be the change they want to see in the world.
