The music of Promise is a peaceful journey filled with emotional music that is layered and blended to perfection by multi-talented musicians…”

— Michael Foster, Ambient Visions

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, August 30, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — LMB Music announces the worldwide release of PROMISE, the second album by the popular foursome of friends known as FLOW. The core of the group – Will Ackerman, Fiona Joy Hawkins, Lawrence Blatt, Jeff Oster – returned to Imaginary Road Studios this summer, and along with Jeff Haynes and Tom Eaton — called upon their collaborative talents to explore, develop and record ten new melodic and imaginative tracks for their sophomore album, PROMISE. The group returns to New York City and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall for the third time on September 27th, and will play Next Stage in Putney, Vermont on Sept 25. Tickets and music are available today at https://flowthegroup.com

On September 28th, FLOW will be live studio guests on Echoes.org, performing new music from PROMISE, and no doubt sharing laughs and behind-the-scenes stories with host John Diliberto. Their story is a familiar one — friends coming together in music, a shared recording history and a passion for playing live — and they’ve been highly successful at it despite their busy touring and recording schedules as solo artists. After debuting to a full house at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in 2017, FLOW celebrated the release of their multi-award winning album with tours that took them from the New Orleans Jazz Museum, to Seattle, the Bay Area, the Los Angeles Grammy Museum, Nashville, Philadelphia and back to Carnegie Hall. The group charted at #1 on the Zone Music Report, and later collected wins for Best New Age Album at the IMA Awards at Lincoln Centre in NY, and Album of the Year at the ZMR Awards in New Orleans; they are currently nominated for two Peace Song Awards, and recently submitted PROMISE as a New Age entry in the 62nd Annual GRAMMY(R) Awards.

The new album brings with it an entirely new set of stories, artistic growth and evolution in their sound, perhaps emerging from a heightened confidence in one another. Michael Foster of Ambient Visions (August 18, 2019) pinpoints their accomplishment in an extensive review, writing “There's a fine line between a group of individuals who play music together and a group of individuals who blends their unique talents into creating music that is perceived not as individual efforts but as a shared movement in the same direction, with the same mind and with the same heart as to where they want to go… The music of Promise is a peaceful journey filled with emotional music that is layered and blended to perfection by multi-talented musicians who are able to “feel” the ebb and flow (pun intended) of the music as it moves from member to member and to respond musically using their own talents to further shape the song adding to it their own perspectives before passing it along to the next member of FLOW. The album is filled with heartfelt playing by everyone involved and shows that the perfect partnership that was created in the formation of FLOW has yielded an exceptional album filled with rich and relevant music…”

On might say that PROMISE gets to the heart of our most meaningful relationships. The group’s fans will enjoy the signature FLOW sounds they’ve come to love — guitar, piano, flugelhorn, ukulele, keyboards, percussion, and vocalizations — while delighting in new instrumentation. The live shows will include guest artists such as violinist Rebecca Daniel, guitarists Vin Downes (in NYC) and David Cullen (in Putney), percussionist Jeff Haynes and multi-instrumentalist/producer Tom Eaton.

ABOUT FLOW:
FLOW is an anagram of group member’s names — Fiona Joy Hawkins (Australian Pianist), Lawrence Blatt (acoustic guitarist), Jeff Oster (Flugelhorn master) and GRAMMY®-winning guitarist and producer Will Ackerman (of Windham Hill) – who came together out of friendship, a shared recording history and a passion for playing live and touring. After a full house debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in 2017, FLOW celebrated their self-titled debut album, Flow, by touring some of the nation’s most passionate music cities: New Orleans, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York, Seattle and San Francisco, culminating at the Los Angeles GRAMMY Museum in 2018. Along the way, they picked up a coveted Album of the Year wins at the ZMR Awards in New Orleans, and Best New Age Album at the IMA Awards at the Lincoln Centre in NY. In early 2019, FLOW returned to Imaginary Road Studios in Vermont to complete their second album, PROMISE, produced by Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton, releasing August 30, 2019 on LMB Music. DR CHRISPY, Renowned Australian Space Scientist, Aerospace Engineer and Music Producer to Release the New Single “DRIVE”

Dr Chrispy - "DRIVE"

Dr Chrispy – “DRIVE”

Dr Chrispy Logo

Dr Chrispy

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA, August 29, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — DR CHRISPY (aka Dr. Chris Boshuizen) is an award-winning aeronautical engineer, music producer, and songwriter who has spent the last 16 years tragically torn between two loves: Music and Space Exploration. His new single “DRIVE” will release online everywhere music is streamed and sold on August 30, 2019. With a high-tempo driving beat and a catchy instrumental hook, the single really captures the sensation of being behind the wheel and just driving. The soaring chorus in “DRIVE” brings to mind the feeling of being out on the open road, far away from life's small problems. “Sometimes we just need to get away from it all,” says DR CHRISPY, and he captures that sentiment perfectly on this new track.

DR CHRISPY runs his home studio in San Francisco where he is actively writing and recording new music. DR CHRISPY’s first full-length album VHS released in 2018 and was widely praised by national and international reviewers. A collection of mostly instrumental tracks, Chris began writing VHS in 2003 while traveling as an aerospace engineer. The tracks were written all around the world and capture the vibe of each place and moment in time.

Exclusive Magazine calls VHS, “a wonderfully ambient, bouncy, fun, even thoughtful at times collection of instrumental tracks,” while BabySue.com says, “Whether you're out clubbing or at home trying to get things done, these nifty little rhythmic creations will likely be just what the doctor ordered to get things going.” VHS plays like an auditory travel diary, inviting you along to hear and experience the evolution from Dr. Chris Boshuizen, Space Scientist, to DR CHRISPY, the Artist.

DR CHRISPY released his next single “Voyager at the Heliopause” in June 2019. The track is a tribute to the NASA Voyager spacecraft, which launched in 1977 and has since returned stunning images from the solar system, inspiring Chris to pursue his passion for space. Accompanied by a music video featuring historically accurate animated recreations of those classic images, “Voyager at the Heliopause” is a soothing and ambient electro space jazz track.

Having worked at NASA for almost five years inventing new kinds of spacecraft, Chris went on to cofound the company Planet Labs, which launched and monitors over 200 spacecraft that create a daily map of the global environment. During all this, Chris spent nearly every spare moment writing music on the one instrument he always had with him: his laptop. Much of his music was written at airports or on planes, and over a 16-year period he has amassed an impressive catalog of material with over 300 tracks.

Wanting to get some of his music out to the world, Chris decided to pursue his art full-time, adopting the nickname “Chrispy” that was given to him by his NASA co-workers. Unlike other notable “doctors” in the music industry, DR CHRISPY has a PhD in Physics, and in 2014 he won the Advance Global Award for being the Greatest Australian Not Living in Australia. After completing his PhD in Physics at the University of Sydney he found a position at NASA Ames Research Center in Northern California, one of NASA’s 10 centers around the US. There Chris worked on several fascinating projects, including a lunar lander, an electric airplane, and he also co-invented the world’s smallest satellite called PhoneSat.

With the success of PhoneSat, Chris and his friends were emboldened to try something ambitious, so they left NASA to start Planet Labs. Today Planet Labs has launched over 200 satellites that were designed under Chris’s leadership. Leveraging his years of experience with computer music, Chris has taught the introductory workshop on electronic music production at the last two annual Taxi Road Rallies in Los Angeles.

Chris has no regrets about pursuing his space career, but always felt music would one day become his focus. With a lifetime of music production experience and a lower-stress job that afforded him a bit more free time, he assumed his alter-ego as DR CHRISPY and suddenly entered a prolific phase of writing with the feeling he now had something to say. DR CHRISPY’s goal as an artist is to connect music and tech while bringing a message of hope and empowerment to his audience.

In 2016, DR CHRISPY began creating lyrical songs in addition to his instrumental music. This material will be released on his next album project. Chris still hopes one day to take himself beyond the Earth’s atmosphere, and feels he still has the passion to start another space company one day. You can catch more of Chris’s space and technology thoughts on his personal twitter account at twitter.com/cboshuizen.

“DRIVE” will release online everywhere music is streamed and sold on August 30, 2019.

“3.2 – The Rules Have Changed” — Goes Live

ASHEVILLE, NC, USA, August 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Things just got a lot better for Prog Music Fans – and fans of genuine classic bands with great players. Robert Berry has assembled a killer four-piece band set to begin playing this year. For those who appreciate the fine craftsmanship of YES, ELP, Keith Emerson, Genesis, Jethro Tull, etc… are in for a real treat. Berry is riding high with his latest release “3.2: The Rules Have Changed” written with Keyboardist Keith Emerson. Berry is well known for his Bass, Vocals and as a multi-instrumentalist who’s written and toured with Carl Palmer, Steve Howe (Yes), GTR and Ambrosia to name a few. Rounding out the group are Drummer Jimmy Keegan (Spock's Beard), Guitarist Paul Keller (Emerson/Palmer), and Keyboardist Andrew Colyer (Circuline, Cell15, Awaken). Aside from all the heavy instrumental lifting, all four band members sing – a pleasant surprise in today's music world. The word has been spreading quickly, and already 3.2 will be headlining at this year's ProgStock Festival – an annual 3-Day Festival in Rahway, New Jersey this October 11-12-13. ProgStock is the gem of the Prog Music Festivals in the North East U.S. and continues to bring in more prestigious acts every year. The band will be touring North America this fall (tour dates below).

About Robert Berry: Berry is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He's co-written with Steve Howe for the band GTR, he's a former Ambrosia band member. He drew a lot of attention for his work re-arranging/re-recording of the YES hit “Roundabout” for Magna Carta Records, drawing some to label him as a crafty American version of Trevor Rabin. Yes, there are many similarities between the two. Now Robert Berry has announced the live touring band for the #1 Amazon and Billboard charting album, “3.2 – The Rules Have Changed” written with the late Keith Emerson. Emerson and Berry formed the band “3” in the 1980's with Carl Palmer, and had the #9 Billboard hit “Talkin' Bout”. Their debut album “To The Power of 3” charted well on the Geffen label – well known at the time for their other artists like Peter Gabriel.

In 2015, a radio station in Boston unearthed some old tapes from the 1988 “3” tour, and released them as a live album. After hearing that live performance, Keith Emerson was inspired to reunite with Berry, resuming work on the unfinished second “3” album, now titled “3.2”. It was released on the Frontiers Records label. With Emerson's tragic passing in 2016, it appeared the new album might not get finished.

Spring of 2018, and Berry had worked out the details with the Emerson estate and Frontiers to complete and release the record. The first single, “Somebody's Watching” (released May 22, 2018), saw the album debut at #3 on the Amazon hard rock charts, and generated 7,000 YouTube views in the first 36 hours, and over 12,000 views in the first week. A musical phoenix had indeed risen. The album was released on August 10, 2018, and hit #1 on Amazon, selling out in five countries on the first day, and placed on two Billboard charts. The two YouTube videos from the album currently have over 75,000 cumulative views. The new album has met with unanimous positive international acclaim from over 100 magazine articles, blog and website reviews, and FM and internet radio stations. Berry, Keegan, Keller and Colyer began live rehearsals in November 2018, and are looking forward to not only performing the great last work of Keith Emerson, but will also be pulling from Berry's 30-year history of Progressive Rock, and also his work with Steve Howe, some from Ambrosia, some of his solo work, and of course his re-worked tribute albums for the Magna Carta label, which include the music of YES, ELP, Genesis and Jethro Tull .

Prepare Yourself… Robert Berry’s new band is stacked with seasoned players!

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) Receives Several Grants to Enhance Music Therapy Programs

LtoR: Renee Fleming, Dr. David J. Gentner and Dr. Concetta Tomaino

MOUNT VERNON, NEW YORK, USA, August 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Institute for Music and Neurological Function is excited to announce several recent foundation grant awards enabling it to develop and enhance existing programs

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) has received a generous grant of $10,560 from the Veterans Support Foundation (VSF) to provide a music therapy program to benefit veterans with neurological disabilities such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Established in 1991, VSF was founded by veterans to provide discretionary grants for programs that improve the lives of veterans and their families. Focus areas include programs that promote veteran camaraderie, female veterans and job transition and training.

IMNF, co-founded in 1995 by Dr. Oliver Saks and Dr. Concetta Tomaino, has long been a pioneer in research of music and brain health as well as a provider of innovative music therapy services. IMNF is driven by nearly 25 years of clinical observations on the actual effects of music on individuals who have experienced different types of physical and neurological trauma. Veterans experiencing PTSD tend to have difficulty talking about their experiences. “Healing Music,” an interactive music therapy program, is designed to support self-expression while diminishing feelings of anxiety and/or fear that may limit a veteran’s quality of life after a traumatic event or injury.

IMNF’s Healing Music program also received a first time grant of $5,800 from the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Lifting Lives Foundation. ACM Lifting Lives® is the philanthropic arm of the ACM and is dedicated to improving lives through the power of music. Through partnerships with artists and strong ties in the music industry, ACM Lifting Lives® develops and funds music-related therapy and education programs. The program has a 50 year history of charitable giving and since 2008 has given more than $8 million dollars to more than 150 causes and supports projects that create awareness and help those in need. IMNF was one of 33 organizations receiving awards this year.

Additionally, The ASCAP Foundation awarded IMNF $4,030 to provide a “Music Therapy for Aphasia” program as part of Wartburg’s Outpatient and post-acute Rehabilitation programs. In addition, with interactive technology developed by the Biodex Company, the IMNF will research the impact of music therapy on gait rehabilitation for improved mobility in persons with Parkinson’s disease.

In 2017, IMNF made its new home on Wartburg’s beautiful 34-acre campus. Wartburg, a senior residential and healthcare facility in Mount Vernon, NY, is partnering with the IMNF to provide innovative music therapy programs to their residents and in the community and advance neurological studies of music and the brain through research.

“Now that the IMNF has a home on our campus, evidence-informed music programming is playing more of an integral role in Wartburg’s Creative Aging & Lifelong programs and we are grateful to these funders who recognize how vital these programs are to overall quality of life,” said Wartburg’s President & CEO, David J. Gentner, Ed.D.

Wartburg
Wartburg, located in Westchester County, NY, offers integrated, comprehensive senior residential and healthcare services. Unlike conventional retirement communities, Wartburg provides a wide range of services to both residents living on their beautiful 34-acre campus and people in their own homes. From independent, assisted living and award-winning nursing home care to inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation, home care and adult day care services, their continuing care approach has earned them a trusted reputation in Westchester. Wartburg also provides caregiver support at every stage with an array of options to find the level of care that considers the whole family. Most recently, Wartburg received the 2016 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award from the American College of Health Care Administrators and the 2015 Legacy Award from the Westchester County Chapter of the Links. In addition, Wartburg was named one of the "Best Nursing Homes in New York State" by U.S. News & World Report for the eighth consecutive year in 2018.

About IMNF
The IMNF is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1995, the IMNF is driven by over 35 years of clinical observations on the actual effects of music on individuals who have different types of physical and neurological disorders. Directed by renowned music therapist Dr. Concetta M. Tomaino, the IMNF conducts research on the relationship between music and the brain, provides patients with music therapy, and offers our professional peers around the world the latest music therapy education and training information about best practices. Through the scientific exploration of music and the brain, the IMNF seeks to establish new knowledge and to develop more effective music therapy treatments to awaken, stimulate and heal through the extraordinary power of music.

About the Boulder Concert Band

Celebrating its 43rd season, the Boulder Concert Band has a glorious history. The first records of a performing band in the city of Boulder date back to 1870. The ICC Silver Cornet Band, as it was known, performed weekly concerts in the pioneer town of Boulder. In the spring of 1897 a larger band organization was formed. This group, called the Boulder Band, was said to be the best organization of its type in Colorado. Several decades later, the Boulder Municipal Band was formed and was the first to include women musicians.

The Boulder Concert Band as we know it today was reorganized in 1976 by the late Hugh McMillen, former Director of Bands at the University of Colorado. Considered to be one of the premier adult community bands in the state, the current organization has more than 60 volunteer musicians. Its members are drawn from the business, professional, and educational communities in the Boulder County and Denver metro area.

The Boulder Concert Band provides the community with outstanding performances of traditional and modern concert literature and enriches the cultural experience of the audience and the musicians. Follow the Boulder Concert Band on Facebook, or visit the web site at www.boulderband.org.
