PedalSnake® Streamlines Strymon®’s 24V Method – The state-of-the-art for powering pedals just got better!

Voted “Best Accessory” in Guitar Player Magazine

RALEIGH, NC, USA, February 22, 2019 / — Based in Raleigh NC, PedalSnake® is the world’s first configurable, multi-channel, all-in-one pedals-to-amp cable system for guitarists.

In October of 2017, PedalSnake introduced 24V Adapters for use with Strymon’s 24V-sourced Ojai and Ojai R30 power supplies. The reception was so positive, PedalSnake has now streamlined the process.

The 24V Method involves:

1) An ultra-quiet pedalboard-mounted power supply, with fully isolated and regulated outputs, and no AC power cord run to the pedalboard, just a single “all in one” PedalSnake system.

2) A single PedalSnake channel connects between Strymon’s 24V source at the backline, and the 24V-powered Ojai R30 (or Ojai) power supplies on the pedalboard, delivering virtually unlimited current to pedals.

3) Lower noise floor; ultra quiet power supplies, and nothing but quiet DC near pedals. (Videos have already surfaced proving that nothing is quieter than the Strymon supplies.)

First, Jody Page, president of PedalSnake, explains the importance of 24V: “We have been placing ‘all in one’ cable system in player’s rigs for years. But PedalSnake is a low-voltage cable system. So players choosing to keep an onboard power supply had to run their AC power cord outside PedalSnake”.

“Please understand, PedalSnake chose low-voltage cable because it can do so much and still be light and flexible, a joy to work with. And think about it. Why run noisy 120VAC, a voltage capable of delivering 1000’s of watts, to a pedalboard that requires only 1-2 watts of power? With the 24V Method, players can now have a single all-in-one PedalSnake system, a state-of-the-art pedalboard power supply, no AC power cord in sight, and nothing but quiet DC on the board. We consider this is a major breakthrough in both rig efficiency and sound quality.”

But now things have progressed. Page says, “We started the 24V Method by offering 24V plug adapters for our standard PowerLines (P-Line™) Pigtails, which have standard 2.1mm barrel connectors. Because of the overwhelming response, we have now introduced P-Line Pigtails with Strymon’s 24V connectors that plug directly into a PedalSnake (BaseSnake™) channel. No more plug adapters. Less cost and fewer connections for the user.”

JES Releases The Will Atkinson Remix Of #1 Hit "Imagination"

“Imagination” is the first single from JES’s forthcoming part-retro/part-‘future-spective’ album “Memento”, and has landed in the remix hands of Will Atkinson.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, February 22, 2019 / — Seeing the light in 2008, ‘Imagination’ was amongst the first post-‘Rush Comes’ solo material from the now universally renowned artist, JES. Originally remixed for club-floors by Tiësto, Kaskade and others, the track spearheaded a monster solo breakout for the American singer, swiftly hitting the #1 spot on Billboard’s Dance Airplay chart.

“Imagination” is the first single to arrive from JES’s forthcoming part-retro/part-‘future-spective’ album “Memento”, and has landed in the remix hands of Will Atkinson. Now if you think Will’s about to be daunted by its glittery, garlanded really-rather-accomplished past… think again. In fact screw it, we’re going to say it – Atkinson’s arrived with a remix of such vision, scope & eminence, the only thing he has to worry about is ever bettering it!

Letting JES’s ‘Imagination’ run away with him, over nine minutes Will’s rework takes it to any number of new dimensions. Tapping into its emotional core from the outset, his production makes a lightning quick connection with her song. Rolling JES’s opening refrains over crisp breaks and then capitalizing with 4/4 beats, he brings in a beast of a b-line and an irresistible riptide of surging sub-riffs. Will then deftly clicks it over into a thumping progressive tract, allowing – through pathos-soaked pads, synths and endless FX detail, that emotion to swell. Finally – right when you think it’s topped out and hasn’t anymore road to run, he stunningly upscales again. With a break picked out by authentic guitars strains and heart-seeking chime, Will finally eclipses all with the kind of mainline uplift your night simply won’t recover from.

When charged with remixing a song that boasts this much history and mystique you’ll naturally be expected to bring your “A”game. This time Will Atkinson has gone one better. Check it out here

On the heels of several 2019 season concert announcements, the Bend Oregon music venue highlights national award from Jack Johnson

Several years ago, we started a program called the ‘Take Note Initiative’ that was designed as a formal program for reducing waste and making the amphitheater a more environmentally friendly venue”

— Marney Smith

BEND, OR, USA, February 21, 2019 / — Les Schwab Amphitheater was chosen to receive the All At Once Sustainability Award for Jack Johnson's 2017-18 All the Light Above It Too World Tour. The award acknowledged only three venues in the United States that excel in waste reduction and sustainability. The Bend, Oregon venue received the award due to the implementation of several waste reduction measures and initiatives to boost energy conservation as part of its ongoing practices.

"Several years ago, we started a program called the ‘Take Note Initiative’ that was designed as a formal program for reducing waste and making the amphitheater a more environmentally friendly venue," said Marney Smith, director for Les Schwab Amphitheater. "Each season, we expand the program to accomplish our sustainability goals. We are honored to be recognized for this work, as we believe incorporating sustainability wherever possible is vital to creating a better community."

Les Schwab Amphitheater's Take Note Initiative has several features that earned it the All at Once Sustainability Award, including:

•Use of reusable and compostable cups for alcohol purchases, including compostable glasses, plates, and utensils at all food vendors
•Elimination of single-use plastic bottles
•Installation of an on-site water filtration station for filling reusable vessels
•Recycling, waste and compost management services with a goal of zero waste

In a written statement, Jack Johnson said, "I’m grateful to these venues, festivals and promoters for showing real leadership in the movement to green the music industry. You are thinking outside the box to make concerts more sustainable, which also offers a better experience to the fans. We are exploring ways to promote reusables and wipe out disposable plastics and I loved looking out at the crowds each night and seeing so many people using reusable cups. I am proud of the All At Once Sustainability award winners for your commitment to reduce single-use plastic and for leading by example."

All At Once is Jack Johnson’s social action network where like-minded individuals can make a positive change in the local and world community: connect with non-profit groups, take environmental action and receive rewards. All At Once promotes Sustainable Local Food Systems and Plastic Free Initiatives.

Already in 2019, Les Schwab Amphitheater has recently announced several upcoming shows for the season with more to come. Announced shows include: Jason Isbell and Father John Misty (June 9); Rebelution (June 23); Ziggy Marley and Michael Franti (June 27); Avett Brothers (August 13); Josh Groban (August 20); and Gary Clark Jr (September 14). The Bucket List Featuring Phil Keaggy, Tony Levin & Jerry Marotta Release Debut Album

ASHEVILLE, NC, USA, February 20, 2019 / — The Bucket List is the collective effort of guitar extraordinaire Phil Keaggy, legendary bassist Tony Levin and rhythm master Jerry Marotta featuring 12 original instrumentals that showcase the strengths of these three musicians.

Having recorded over 60 albums since the late 1960’s, Phil Keaggy is one of the most admired guitarists in the Contemporary Christian music world. Phil’s talents have earned him two Grammy nominations as well as being a seven time recipient of the GMA Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year.

How many musicians can claim they recorded/toured with King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Yes, and let’s not forget John Lennon? Bassist and Stick player Tony Levin can and that’s barely scratching the surface of his musical biography. When Tony’s not bouncing between King Crimson and Peter Gabriel, he’s usually found on the road with The Stick Men.

For over a decade, Tony along with drummer Jerry Marotta were the rhythm section for the classic Peter Gabriel years. Jerry’s unique percussion style has graced the music of Paul McCartney, Hall & Oats, Elvis Costello, The Indigo Girls and so many others. These days, Jerry never takes a break working with The Security Project, The Marotta Brothers Band, The Fragile Fate and Flav Martin.

The genesis of this super trio can be traced back over ten years ago when Phil, Tony and Jerry first met in Woodstock for an impromptu jam session that lead to a live show and a whole lot of improvisation left in the can. Over the years the material was revisited and reworked then left to age in the barrel a little longer.

Fast forward to 2018, the recordings are given a fresh breath of air plus added tracks to formulate a collection of actual songs. The end result is executive producer Paul Grimsland finally getting to tick off a box of his Bucket List. Like a fine wine, The Bucket List has been aged to perfection and is ready for consumption from an audience thirsting for this musical delight.

To kick off the release of The Bucket List, Phil, Tony and Jerry aka KLM have several very special shows planned to showcase the album. Don’t miss KLM live in concert as this may be your only chance to cross these performances off your Bucket List.

Lost Album By '80s Milwaukee Punk-Power-Pop Band Locate Your Lips is Finally Released!

Locate Your Lips “For Kenny” World Release April 5th, 2019

ASHEVILLE, NC, USA, February 20, 2019 / — During the mid-1980s Locate Your Lips made some of the most adventurous music heard in Milwaukee. They were a powerful trio but not a power trio in the classic rock sense. Built around the jazz-schooled yet rock ready drumming of Kenny Baldwin, the empathetic accompaniment of bassist Andy Cavaluzzi and fiery guitar playing by (ex – Shivvers guitarist) Jim Eannelli, Locate Your Lips emerged from the city’s punk rock scene—Kenny owned the Starship club that became its Downtown mecca—but was not confined by it. With the energy of punk and the sophistication of jazz and progressive rock Locate Your Lips broke ground and left audiences unable to pigeonhole them.

Working with tapes left from a live broadcast on WQFM and a previously unreleased album length studio recording, Jim Eannelli produced a Locate Your Lips album to be released in April, 2019. There was so much material that the project became a double CD with no slack moments.

A pre-release show on January 5th was the first chance to hear this batch of songs and performances that remain timeless—as riveting today as they were in 1985. The listening party, an overwhelmingly successful event, was a memorable night of fellowship where participants spoke about the life of Kenny Baldwin (who passed away from cancer in 2015).

Happy Growl Records will unveil the official world-wide release of the 2-CD set on April 5th, 2019 for both physical and digital product.

Three more performances of Vancouver Opera’s production of Puccini’s La Bohéme

3 more performances of Vancouver Opera’s Puccini’s La Bohéme
An extravagant production of the greatest love story
February 19 & 21 at 7:30pm & 24 at 2:00pm

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, February 19, 2019 / — Vancouver Opera’s 2018/2019 season and festival bring us a lush new production of Puccini’s La Bohème that is quite literally designed as an enormous vintage postcard of Paris. The curtain rises on a modern-day flea market, with tourists taking selfies, sellers touting their wares and an accordion duo entertaining the crowd. Amid the bustle, a lone visitor puts a record on a vintage gramophone from which plays the opening bars of Giacomo Puccini’s famous opera, transporting the audience back in time.

Canadian designer and director duo André Barbe and Renaud Doucet – the team behind VO’s Turandot in 2017 – has created a beautiful and gloriously over-the-top production, first seen at the Scottish Opera where it was highly successful. The setting is updated to the interwar years of the 1920s when American artists and writers flocked to Paris to live the bohemian life.

Literally meaning ‘the bohemians’, this tragic love story of passion, poetry and poverty, with uplifting humorous moments, features soprano France Bellemare, tenor Yosep Kang and baritone Phillip Addis and is directed by world-renowned conductor Judith Yan.

Quebec’s young soprano France Bellemare makes her Vancouver Opera debut in the role of Mimi having previously portrayed the tragic love interest at the Musica Viva Opera in Hong Kong. Her exquisite passion and beauty have inspired audiences through her budding career. In 2018, Bellemare was Marguerite in Faust at both the Societe d’Art Lyrique du Royaume and the Orchestre de Trois-Rivière. Also in 2018, she lent her warm, velvet vocals to the role of The Mother in The Wall by the Cincinnati Opera.

Korean-born tenor Ji-Min Park marks his Vancouver Opera debut as the romantic Rodolfo, transfixed by the beauty of Mimi as he embraces his love for her through all of its highs and lows. Park will portray the role of Rodolfo for the 100th time with Vancouver Opera, having previously portrayed the role for Opera Australia, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and New National Theatre in Tokyo. His career has taken him to countless international stages, including representing South Korea in the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Recent engagements include Alfredo in La Traviata with Cincinnati Opera and Opera Australia, and Ernesto in Don Pasquale for Fort Worth and Atlanta.

Canadian baritone Phillip Addis brings his bright and smooth voice to the role of Marcello. During the 2017-2018 opera season Addis performed with the Calgary Opera in the title role in Eugene Onegin and the Edmonton Opera in the title role of Don Giovanni. He has previously performed with the Minnesota Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, Canadian Opera Company and the Ruhrtriennale festival. He was last seen at the Vancouver Opera as Conte Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Canadian Soprano Sharleen Joynt brings her scintillating high range to her Vancouver Opera debut as Musetta in this production. In 2018, Joynt debuted with the Opera Philadelphia and the Charleston Symphony. During the 2017/2018 opera season, Joynt performed Musetta with the Pacific Opera Victoria and debuted with the Anchorage Opera and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Additionally, she performed with the Bach Society of St. Louis and the Theatre Augsburg’s Summer Concert Series.

Canadian conductor Judith Yan makes her Vancouver Opera debut following an international 2017/2018 season conducting the Seattle Opera, Hong Kong Ballet and the Korean National Ballet. Yan was a Staff Conductor with the San Francisco Opera for several years following her time with the Canadian Opera Company as the first Conductor-in-Residence. She is currently the Artistic Director of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra and Music Director and Principal Conductor of Opera on the Avalon.

While La Bohéme is sung in Italian, English SURTITLES™ will be projected above the stage.

‘Jazz-age colour and vitality” The Guardian
“Opera at its most exuberant” The Herald
“Stunningly designed with plenty of theatrical fizz” The Times

Three more performances on Tuesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 21 at 7:30pm and a 2:00pm matinee on Sunday, February 24. All performances take place at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (Georgia and Hamilton), Vancouver. With impeccable taste in music and considerable business acumen, they have assembled a small roster of 16 artists who are widely considered to be some of the top jazz players in the country. Other GRAMMY® winners and nominees on their label include Tierney Sutton, Steve Smith, Larry Goldings and Lenny White.

BFM Jazz is an off-shoot of one of the few formative digital distributors, BFM Digital launched by Corn and Weber in 2004. The Founders, who are both musicians and Jazz fans, saw a need for independent jazz artists to have a home and started BFM Jazz in 2010 with Michele Ito spearheading the effort.

Most of the BFM Jazz artists are in it for the long haul. Randy Waldman is new to the label, but John Daversa has now produced five albums for the company, and the Steve Gadd Band has recorded and released four.

With 5 Grammy® wins this year, BFM Jazz has joined the ranks of major players in Jazz.
